Constructive Technologies

Constructive Technologies (CT) started
life in 1998 as a software
development company servicing
numerous industries. Having become
involved in the construction industry they
quickly identified a significant opportunity
to improve the processes used in the
construction marketplace through the
use of technology.

History of Constructive Technologies

Their initial focus concentrated on improving productivity within the Fabrication process and from here they developed a new bred of software which has been designed with ‘connecting with the value stream’ in mind. Today, they provide sales, stock, optimisation, production and prefabrication management software to 70% of the fabricators in the UK and Ireland, and also have wide spread adoption around the world.

From here they began looking at the project management processes utilised at site level; the traditional “black marker, paper schedule and fax process” was ripe for enhancement, they realised that significant errors were occurring due to the complexity of managing the paper process, revision control was difficult due to information and product flows being less than synchronised and continual re-keying of all the data by the commercial teams & fabricators introduced the opportunity for errors. In 2000 they developed and launched Steelpac Site which introduced control, real-time information and connectivity with the broader value stream.

Constructive very early on realised that communication was key to improving the overall performance of the value stream and set about developing a common file format for transferring data between the various stakeholders. They developed the SDI file format and released it for use across the industry. Today it is used by designers, fabricators & projects to communicate controlled error free messages through each stage of the process around the world.

In 2003, in line with their strategic plan they launched their structural detailing and scheduling software known as Steelpac RCD and RCS, in tandem with this they opened offices in Dubai & Manila and now employ over 100 structural engineers who provide high quality detailing services to the global RC Structures market.

Specifically designed for the US market, Rebar Bid was launched in 2005 to meet a demand from Fabricators who required a complex estimating system to accurately take off and measure future projects.

More recently in 2006 they developed a web-based design project management tool which is used internally and externally to co-ordinate, manage and control the entire design detailing process. This has been well received by our many clients who appreciate the transparency and visibility across the process.

In addition to the Steelpac suite of products CT have also been commissioned by several companies in the UK and Australia that operate in the construction market place to develop business process and operational systems to manage and integrate their business activities.

In 2008 we started to train our Engineers on 3D technology and are integrating this into our business processes to improve productivity and evolve our offerings, we continue to use the latest technology and best of class people to further evolve and improve our offerings to the Global RC Structures Market Place.
